What to bring

• Two copies of the Request for Live Scan Service form (BCIA 8016) from the requesting agency
• Top portion complete with ORI code, license type, and agency contact details
• Valid government-issued photo ID (driver license, passport, military ID, or permanent resident card)

Fees

• Rolling fee: $32.00 · DOJ fee: $32.00 · FBI fee: $17.00
• Travel fee: $25.00 (may be higher by distance)
• Total: $106.00 — no charge if the agency pays and supplies a billing number

Payment

Cash, check, Zelle, or billing account when a billing number is provided at service.

Hand preparation

• Clean, dry hands — no lotion before the appointment
• Reschedule if fingers have cuts or bandages (can cause rejections)
• For very dry skin, use hand cream the night before

Typical appointment time

Document and ID check (1–2 min), data entry (2–3 min), fingerprint capture (3–5 min).

Check result status

Visit applicantstatus.doj.ca.gov with your ATI number and date of birth. Results are sent to the requesting agency — the status site does not show RAP sheet details.
